Hello! Eileen here! I’m pretty new here, but I will be helping out my friend, Bucky, with Digfest.com’s updates. I’d also like to thank him for giving me the opportunity to write these awesome blogs! I’ll try not to do too much harm. =D
Some of you proactive Wii-goers are familiar with Cave Story in your wiiware, but for those of you who aren’t, I’d like to revisit this game since it’s my favorite game of all time (for now).
As you know, Cave Story was just released in Wii’s wiiware this year in the 22nd of March and when I found out about it, I went ballistic! Unfortunately for me, I didn’t have the money to buy it, but I imagine that the game is just as cool if not better on Wii as it was on PC back in 2004 and on Playstation’s PSP in 2006. The recently released Cave Story for Wii has better graphics, new weapons, and different levels of play as well as other fantastic features!
Independent maker Daisuke Amaya, aka Pixel, has wonderfully created this nostalgic 2D design and it surely brings me back to the days when I was a kid when Nintendo first came out with Duck Hunt (I will forever be haunted by the laughing dog). Even the music and sound effects are simplified to easy beats and tones that the gamer will find themselves humming. And with two buttons for shooting and jumping, it’s no wonder why they haven’t had this game on Wii any sooner!
It’s amazing to think that technology has gone a long way in the gaming industry as well as digital arts; Pixel has definitely taken us back to that “old school” feel. I do hope that Pixel will come up with another amazing game like this one.
