Sony’s next PSP might be the answer to Nintendo’s 3Ds. It will be the portable that will separate itself from it’s predecessors. This is a whole new system, which means you won’t be able to play your PSP games on this bad boy.
The NGP consists of a multi-touch surface on the front/back of the PSP, and two analog controllers instead of one. It’s a lot larger than the PSP with a 5 inch OLED (reminds me of Atari Lynx), and will use memory cartridges instead of UMD discs. The device has it’s similarities of an iPhone with the whole finger touching, and 3G capabilities.
I was never a big fan of the PSP, but that’s because there were not enough original games on it. I wasn’t fond about having direct ports from the PS2 to the PSP. So let’s hope that the NGP will create more original games than direct ports of it’s console version. If they can develop more original games then I will get one. For now I will wait till E3 or TGS, and check out their fall lineup.
