Crysis 2 will be available in a few days with 3D optional for your HD TV (if you have $100 3D glasses). So I decided to make Crysis 1 in 3D for people who can’t afford expensive 3D ware. This is not the 3D you will find in “Crysis 2″, but at least you will be able to get a gist of how Crysis 2 will perform in 3D (hint: Avatar).

I bought these 2-4 dollar pair of 3D stereoscopic glasses that came with the TRON mag, but I think the glasses are not as great as I thought they would be. It pops out when you are mostly stationary, but when it’s in fast motion it’s hard to focus. Also the amount of playback I had to test with these glasses made me feel more nauseous in 10 mins than Avatar in 2 hours.

I used Corel Video Studio Pro X4 to create the 2D to 3D conversion during encoding. It’s pretty easy, and you don’t need AVISynth. Just create it, and save as 3D. I like it better than Cyberlink’s Power Director. Cyberlink’s encoding codecs are not as good as Corel Video Studio Pro X4 when it comes to mpg formats.

I encoded two different mpg files on both softwares. The Cyberlink file had a bit of a slow frame rate side by side at 30fps. I don’t know why, and maybe it’s the codec they use. But the good part, Cyberlink’s Power Director is the fastest video encoder in the world. Now only if Corel could implement AMD GPU acceleration encoding then they could be on top of the game.

Check the video below, and prepare yourself for some stereoscopic 3D! I suggest watching this in 720p or 1080p. 360p looks horrible.
