Minecon starts in 3 days, which will kick off the full version of Minecraft and the official end of the beta period. This means you have 3 days to buy it at the beta price (€14.95/$21). The final release price will be €20 (≈ $28).

For those who already own Minecraft, you can preview the final version with the current pre-release, 1.0 Release Candidate 2, which you can find here. To use a pre-release you have to already own a copy of Minecraft, but if you follow the instructions it’s rather easy to do.

I haven’t gotten much of a chance to try the current pre-release, but there are a lot of major updates in this version, and the full release should be even bigger. Here’s a video by YouTube user RandomMacFive that plays through a little bit of 1.0RC2:
