I’m a huge fan of vinyl, and it sounds way better than the compressed mp3s, CDs you have out right now. So if you miss that high fidelity noise, you can spend $150 bucks on this usb powered device. It’s a great portable device you can take around, and you can rip your vinyl records straight on your computer. It also includes a built in FM transmitter, line out, and headphone jack.
It’s a great idea, but due to it’s portability I’m not sure how well it will support 12 inch vinyls. I’m also concerned about the weight of the needle that might warp the record when played multiple times. Either way it’s a great device for old skool fanatics.
Great news for AMD fans, but bad news for Nvidia users. AMD has announced they will be bringing AMD driver updates straight to Steam so you don’t have to visit their site anymore. So for those with AMD cards you are just a click away on steam to update to the most recent drivers.
“AMD and Valve teaming up to make sure that Steam gamers always have the most recent drivers for their graphics cards is just another way that we are showing our commitment to the promise we developed in our Gamers’ Manifesto.
The first ATI Catalyst driver update that will be available via Steam will be ATI Catalyst 10.9.”
It’s been a long time for the long awaited 64bit Flash Player, but now it’s finally here, and you can download it.
This only works with 64bit operating systems, and 64bit browsers so if you don’t have it then don’t get it. But if you do have it then check the link below for more information on how to install it. 32bit version is available. This also works with the new Internet Explorer 9 Beta. Enjoy!
Well, this is exciting… I opened my email box just earlier and found an email from McAffe (Yes, I have McAffe) and thought it was important to share this with you guys.
“A new Internet worm dubbed ‘Here You Have’ is streaming into worldwide inboxes, offering a dangerous payload, according to McAfee Labs. The worm, which travels via spam email with the subject line of “Here you have,” or “Just for you,” masquerades as an email with a link to a video or an attached document file. However, the email actually contains a link to a malicious program that can disable security software and send itself to all the contacts in the recipient’s address book.
Corporations around the world were particularly affected by the worm on Thursday as it clogged up their email systems. Consumers could be affected as they go home and log onto their machines. For this reason, McAfee Labs has labeled the worm as a “medium” risk, and warns all computer users to delete any email with the “Here you have,” or “Just for you,” subject line.”
You can now call anywhere in the U.S & Canada for free! straight from GMail. Check the video to see how it works! Easy as 1 2 3! Also check the link below to install the application, and you are all set!
“Calls to the U.S. and Canada will be free for at least the rest of the year and calls to other countries will be billed at our very low rates. We worked hard to make these rates really cheap (see comparison table) with calls to the U.K., France, Germany, China, Japan—and many more countries—for as little as $0.02 per minute.”
YouTube announced that they will be increasing the video uploads from 10 to 15 mins. This is great for people who have a hard time crunching 10 mins of video in one session.
Then again.. the average view time on YouTube is around 3-5 mins. So unless your video is not a review, anime episode or some kid ranting for 15 mins of how stupid they are then I think you don’t need the extra time. But kudos to Youtube for allowing more time.

Finally! Cooliris comes out with a new Version of their multimedia viewer. With their easy-to-use large paneling and pictures, locating a file is simple with a swipe of a mouse.
You can view you’re own pictures, movies, and videos on Cooliris, as well as look up and keep track of videos from Youtube, search pictures from Picasa, Google up pictures, Facebook albums, or videos from your favorite website (all via RSS). They even have simplified searches to make it easier to find your favorite episodes (YES! I get to watch more of House episodes!).
For now, Cooliris works completely well with Firefox (also works well with Google, Safari, and IE depending on your OS and Cooliris’s system requirements), but at least it runs faster that its previous version (isn’t that what really matters?).
I find this program to be quite convenient if you just want to look at multimedia. Now if only they could hook this up to a touch screen…..Hmm…What do you think?
Youtube adds higher resolution display for 4096 x 3072 cameras. But I warn you! It lags like an S.O.B! You’ll need a fast computer to decode all that video. My setup is pretty decent, and it runs aroudn 15-20fps. But it’s good to know that Youtube is actually allowing higher resolution formats (even though we don’t need it). They need less options, and better quality compression. If you manage to look at the 3072p it’s as close as you can get to a “real” 1080p resolution. Remember.. you are not seeing actual HD on Youtube because it’s compressed.
The press release yesterday was posted up on the bluetooth website, stating that specification for BT4.0 is official and is touting “low energy technology” as it’s core specification.
This low energy tech move for bluetooth is in hopes that more device companies will integrate the wireless tech into their products. Look at the benefits really:
Ultra-low peak, average, and idle mode power consumption
Long lasting on a standard coin-cell battery
low cost
Multi-Vendor Interperoability
Enhanced Range
Let’s hope some companies pick up on this quickly, because Q4 2010 isn’t that far away from now.
